World Orienteering Day has been successful from the start and together we can reach the goal of 500 000 participants in 90 countries and territories in 2020.
During 13-19 May 2020, any activity held can be registered as a World Orienteering Day event.
To reach the goal all orienteers all over the world need to contribute. IOF President Leho Haldna has sent a letter to all IOF member federations asking for an “extraordinary effort from all member federations”:
“Please discuss WOD in your federation, with your team and prepare a plan how to increase number of participants in your country at least by 25%!
I am also ready to personally visit your federation, your sport or education authorities if such a visit will support WOD in particular and the development of orienteering in general in your country.
World Orienteering Day is not only an event that is increasing the attractiveness of orienteering but a very good indicator how we, IOF members, can work together and reach our common goal.”
