Idre Fjäll, Sweden, is not only the destination of the second round of the World Cup 2021 but will also present the overall prize for the Team Orienteering World Cup. The winning team will be rewarded with a training camp at Idre Fjäll, worth Euro 5 000. Idre Fjäll is an established orienteering hub in Scandinavia, with regular competitions and training camp possibilities for children and clubs as well as elite. The destination offers wilderness with challenging orienteering terrains in the summer and great conditions for alpine and cross-country skiing in the winter.
“We are happy to contribute to making the Team Orienteering World Cup a success in 2021”, says Peter Rex at Idre Fjäll and continues; “May the best team win!”.
The Team Orienteering World Cup 2019 was won by Sweden after a battle with Switzerland. Will Switzerland take revenge this year or will another team be strong enough to break the last few years dominance by the two countries? Relays are the key component when calculating the standings but individual results also contribute to the total score. The rules are found here.
The first round of the Orienteering World Cup is just around the corner with the first race on Thursday May 13th. The 2nd round will be held at Idre Fjäll, Sweden, in August while the third and decisive round will be held in Italy in September/October.
