A strong World Cup team

The World Cup is from 2020 managed and overseen by a consortium with two parties;

  • IOF
  • Verein Swiss Cup

The agreement of the parties is valid up to 2024 and forms a stability for the coming years. The intentions are in the contract formulated clearly and broad;  “The Orienteering World Cup is to be the premiere series of global elite orienteering competitions, delivered with high quality and financial sustainability to athletes, national teams, media, partners, spectators and fans.”

Key persons from the Verien Swiss Cup, involved in the management of the cup, are Brigitte Grüniger Huber, Matthias Niggli and Hansueli Steinmann. They are in combination delivering unprecedented orienteering experiences; as athletes, as organizers and as leaders. They are collaborating with the partner EKG, injecting further stability to the project. EGK is a major Swiss health insurance company.

The consortium has recently appointed Jörgen Hector as Brand Manager for the World Cup. Jörgen is employed by the IOF and has the role to develop the brand.
– The combination of very strong organizers and the consortium in place is excellent news for the orienteering society! I hope and think that runners and teams will feel a change to an even higher status for the World Cup, allowing the audience to keep growing, says Jörgen Hector.
